Nagios based monitoring

The enterprise alternative

– Complicated made easy

op5 Monitors core is based on and is plugin compatible with the popular and awarded Open Source project Nagios. Our solution makes sure you don’t waste your employees abilities and valuable IT resources on trying to locate issues in your IT environment. We deliver 100% proven, tested and fully optimized functionality for fast detection and localization of irregularities in your network.

op5 was the result from a consulting project for a large telecom customer, implementing a cost efficient network monitoring system. The solution was built on Nagios* and it quickly became apparent that there was a demand for a easy to use open source enterprise monitoring software. The open source heritage is still an central part of op5 and we are a major contributor to the Nagios* project as well as being one of the founding members of the Naemon project, as well as developing several open source projects of our own.

Migration from Nagios to op5 Monitor

If you have spent a lot of time and resources on developing customized modules and checks for Nagios (core or XI), these can be migrated to op5 Monitor along with your other existing data and configurations. We provide a op5 Monitor pre-packed migration service with scripts and support that makes the switch smooth and quick. This makes op5 Monitor to an ideal alternative to Nagios for organizations that has outgrown Nagios. Contact us for further analysis of your situation.

What differentiates op5 Monitor from a standard Nagios installation?

This is a question we often get from current or previous Nagios users. Below are a few differences listed but the best way to find out is by trying op5 Monitor out!

"We definitely got a much better product than we had in Nagios. At the same time, op5 Monitor provided a number of new functions and has a much better look"

Roger Candergart

We have been working hard on the core design of op5 Monitor to be able to meet the need for a flexible system that can scale and work in distributed and redundant setups. This is why we developed a new database backend, available as an open source project we call “Merlin”. It comes with support for clustered setups and has improved scalability which makes the op5 Monitor suitable for large networks and monitoring environments. op5 Monitor now scale extremely well and can be used with thousands of pollers in distributed setups to monitor very large amounts of devices.

op5 Monitor is delivered as a “turn key” solution that consists of hundreds of modules and plug-ins, all verified, quality tested and supported. You as a user don’t have to keep track of all the different packages, their latest upgrades, patches or possible security issues. We take care of this for you as upgrades and updates are included in our support package. op5 Monitor is available both as physical and virtual appliance.

op5 Monitor is designed with the user in mind. Hence we provide a modern and flexible PHP based interface that enables personalized views and settings and improves the presentation of customer specific data. This allows the user to decide on how the information should be displayed. It is also possible to build your own, customized widgets to be displayed in the tactical overview and to create new themes.

op5 Monitor has a reporting module which allows you to easily produce and schedule Service Level Agreement (SLA) reports and performance graphs which are valuable for decision making. The network visualization comes with Google Maps and Open Street Map support. Using Google Maps API, you can draw a map containing objects with status information and links. The user may visualize the infrastructure hierarchically, statically, or via geomaps.

We have developed a web based configuration manager for the op5 Monitor, enabling easy configuration of settings, hastening the setting up of new hosts and lowering the barriers in setting up an efficient network monitoring solution.

As a customer you get unlimited support for the full solution via phone, email or directly through our online ticket handling system. We have a flexible subscription based pricing that lets you “pay as you grow” and which includes a guaranteed functionality for your specific Nagios solution and environment.

Along with our partners, op5 delivers several value adding services related to network monitoring and management as well as training courses.

op5 Monitor is Naemon and Nagios* compatible

Nagios* is one of the major projects in Open Source IT monitoring and the op5 Monitor is 100% compatible with Nagios and Nagios compatible projects. In October of 2013 the project Naemon  was launched.  Naemon aims to be the next generation Nagios. op5 Monitor is delivered as a “turnkey” solution that consists of hundreds of modules and plug-ins, all verified, quality tested and supported. Over 200 plug-ins are documented and shipped with op5 Monitor.

We offer our users a product that combines the flexibility and freedom of open source with reliability and sustained support

We also support and contribute to several other high quality open source projects such as NSclient++ and NagVis.
