NSClient++ has released 0.5.0, a new version of the Windows agent which promises to contain a wealth of possibilities. Most importantly, this version supports Windows Server 2016 and is the agent we recommend for any OP5 customers who may be monitoring Windows-based systems.
This agent was originally developed to work with Nagios but over time has transitioned into a monitoring agent that OP5 Monitor can work with successfully. It can be used to receive/distribute check metrics in different operational scenarios. Also the NSClient++ is an open-ended design allowing customization it in any way you design.
The beta of version 0.5.0 has been available for use and testing for a few months now but the only reports of issues are with users who are upgrading from versions older than 0.4.3 due to the number of changes to the agent since that version’s release.
NSClient++ 0.5.0 contains several new features sustaining the goal of this release to simplify use and have more longevity for the future. Here is the list of new features:
- New and improved WebUI
- Metrics support
- Re-written clients and better support for graphite et.al.
- Fixed count in filters which was not working in versions 0.4.3. and 0.4.4
- Added floating point number support to filters
- Numerous bug fixes and minor enhancements
