The op5 development team is steaming ahead working on release version 5.2 of op5 Monitor. In 5.0 we introduced the new sleek and shiny user interface for the first time. This upcoming release features a new modern intelligent database back-end that steps up and steals the show by offering effortless redundancy and load-balancing.
Beta: September 27
Public stable release: November 2
In this new release of op5 Monitor you will benefit from:
- Complex distributed setups
- Load-balanced setups
- Smooth fail over
- Command forwarding logic for peered setups
- Extended possibilities for monitoring of VMware
- Configuration synchronization and other improvement to the configuration maintenance that improve the day-to-day work-flow and helps save time.
It's now possible to delegate monitoring of specific hostgroups to specific pollers and to share workload between peers in load-balanced setups. You will be able to easily combine redundant and distributed setups featuring both stand-alone and load-balanced pollers feeding results to single or redundant master servers.
This is a major step forward, enabling our product to scale from small office usage to really huge installs with several 10.000 of monitored hosts. Redundancy and load-balancing is hard to achieve with any other monitoring tool, now its effortless with op5 Monitor 5.2!
Improved VMware Monitoring Capabilities
With op5 Monitor 5.2 you can regain the visibility of your virtual, cloud based or outsourced services, letting you stay on top of your services, independent of technical platform. Monitoring VMware based virtual infrastructure and services has become faster and even more detailed. We now introduce possibilities to check if memory ballooning is active on host, VM or the datacenter, a hardware status check has also been added. The performance improvement for the checks reduce scalability issues and making the checks less resource demanding.
Configuration Management
The configuration manager, has received added functionality with easy configuration maintenance that improve the day-to-day work-flow and helps save time:
- Improved auto-discovery of MS Windows services.
- Improved features for monitoring encrypted e-mail protocols.
- Easily propagate extended host and service information, such as icon images, notes urls, action urls etc to new objects.
- Notification Escalation settings is now easy and fast to maintain and propagate to new objects.
- You can now easily clone services to the same host.
