Introduction

This document contains release notes for op5 Logserver 3.0. The document is intended to give brief information about the new release. It is directed towards staff responsible for managing op5 Logserver.

What’s New

New GUI

We have received a lot of feedback from existing customers on the web gui and after some thinking we decided to start from scratch. We now proudly present a completely rewritten gui built on ajax technology.
Main features are:

• New look and feel
• Pages are updated with ajax technology, which means no unnecessary page reloads and a more application like interface.

New Database backend for improved speed and functionality

The database backend has been moved from MySQL to Postgresql. The motivation for this is to take advantage of postgresql native features such as table clustering, stored procedures and full-text indexing which are used to speed up searches and ease maintenance.

New improved search interface

The searches is now done using a single search form. Either type whatever you are looking for in free text or use the query language syntax to in detail define your search. For more information about the query language syntax, check out the [?] next to the Search form box. You can save your search as a filter and search within the filter. Logs are browsable on a calendar / timeline to make it easy to navigate in time. The calendar also includes functionality to import logs that are archived in local or remote storage.

Installation and Upgrade Notes

At least op5 Logserver 2.0 is required for upgrading. Note: Upgrading existing systems will prompt you to convert the existing archived data. This will take a lot of time so make sure that time is available.
